Hola amigos, this is Shivam. Wish you all are having a blast of a day. Here today at AllCasinos, we are in conversation with Poorva, a Roulette Croupier.
SHIVAM: First of all, welcome Poorva! And thank you for taking some time off your tight pack schedule to talk to us at allcasinos.in, I really appreciate it.
POORVA: Thank you so much for inviting me. Really looking forward to it.
SHIVAM: So, today we are going to talk to you about your profession and experience as a Roulette Croupier in India. So, are you ready to enlighten us with your awe-inspiring story?
POORVA: Yes, Absolutely!
SHIVAM: Okay, before we begin, I would like you to introduce yourself to our readers.
POORVA: I have completed my graduation in B.A. English Hons from the University of Delhi in 2016. Now I’m working as a professional Roulette Croupier for more than 30 months.
SHIVAM: We all know this is an unorthodox profession to choose from, especially in India. So, what grabbed your attention towards the casino world?
POORVA: As you know how rapidly our country is moving towards globalization and how every day new internet user is born. This increase in internet usage has also enhanced the market of gambling, especially online gambling. More and more casino operators are going online these days so that casino players have access to all their favourite games from the comfort of their couch. This has skyrocketed the success of the Indian online casinos, thus, an increase in the requirement of casino professionals.

Yes, it was an unorthodox choice but there is an old saying that, ‘you need to take the risk in order to taste success.’ Plus, you get to make good money.
SHIVAM: Well said! Okay, so Poorva can you please enlighten us with a history of roulette?
POORVA: The most popular game of roulette we play today is an outcome of so many attempts at science. In the mid-1600s, Blaise Pascal had tried many different methods to develop perpetual motion machine. Many attempts got failed, but finally, the efforts paid off with the creation of a great motion for the ball. However, it did not get the recognition until the 1800s. This was the same year when a single zero was added to the wheel. When roulette was brought to America, 2nd zero was added. After the introduction of internet gambling in the 1990s, roulette was one of the first games to be offered for web-based casino players. Since then, this game is constantly appreciated and played by casino players worldwide.
SHIVAM: That’s good! How many bets one can make in roulette?
POORVA: There are two types of bet that one can make in roulette.
Inside Bets: Wagers placed on the numbers displayed inside the table’s betting area (within the central grid) are termed as inside bets. Straight Bet, Basket, 6 Line, Street Bet, Double Street Bet, Corner Bet, Split Bet, and Top Line are different inside bets.
Outside Bets: Wagers placed on the number combinations and patterns outside the number board are called outside roulette bets. Even/Odd, Column, Low/High, Dozen, Red/Black, 1-18, and 19-36 are outside bets you can choose to make at the live roulette table.
If you compare both of them then outside bets have higher odds than inside bets. And that is the reason why higher rollers are advised to play outside bets. However, if you are making a large inside bet, then also place various outside wagers to cover the losses.
SHIVAM: Wow, it’s fascinating! Are there any types of roulette and if yes what is most common in India?
POORVA: Yes, there are 3 types of roulette that are most common in our country. And they are:
- American Roulette
When roulette was introduced in American casinos, it was just like the standard European version of the game. However, with time, this game grew its popularity, and Americans decided to add a wrinkle to the board. Instead of there being just a 37th number on the wheel, the American version of roulette offers a 38th number, that is double zero. That means an American roulette wheel doubles the house edge.
- French Roulette
French Roulette is popular among Indians as the chances of winning are higher than American Roulette. This version of roulette has 37 numbers ranging from 0 to 36. Other than zero which is in a green box, all the other numbers are in a red or black cell. The uniqueness of French Roulette is its rules ‘En Prison’ and ‘Le Partage’
” En Prison “: This rule offers additional benefits to players as it decreases the casino’s advantage from 2.70% to 1.35%. This rule only applies to outside par bets that is when the ball falls to ‘0’. If you decide to withdraw your bet, your winnings will be distributed 50% between you and the casino. However, if a you decide to continue, you can play with the same bet in the next round.
” Le Partage “: In this rule of French Roulette, your chances of winning against the bank is improved. Le Partage rule is also used in outside par bets.
- European Roulette
Very similar to French Roulette, yet so different. Similar as in this roulette’s game table also consists of 37 numbers ranging from 0 to 36. And different because European Roulette is one of the most popular types of Online Roulette in India. European Roulette can be found both in the section of a Live Casino, and automatic games. The advantage for the casino is only 2.63%, which is the same as the French Roulette.
SHIVAM: Whoa! I need to search more before I can play roulette. Keeping this in mind can you please suggest me some tricks to enhance my winnings?
POORVA: Roulette is an easy game; all you need to do is place a bet on a number on the wheel and hope that luck favours you and ball lands on your number. However, that doesn’t mean there aren’t some roulette tips that you can use for a more enjoyable experience. I will try to help you:
Always give preference to European roulette over American Roulette as they offer the best possible odds to the player. House edge in European roulette is 2.70%, whereas, it is 5.26% in American roulette.
Unlike in most casino games, standard casino chips are not used in roulette. If you have stopped at a roulette table only to make few handful of bets, it is okay to use chips from the casino. However, if you are planning to stay at the table and play for a while, it is standard etiquette to exchange your chips for special roulette chips.
Roulette is a very social game, but that doesn’t mean you can berate or criticize your fellow players. In order to maintain the respectful atmosphere around the roulette table, players are expected to behave respectfully towards fellow players and with us, the croupiers and dealers.
One bonus tip, after we croupier marks the winning number, we sweep losing bets off the table and begin paying the winning bets. It is advisable to not start making new bets until after we have finished paying the winning bets, and do not attempt to collect your bets until all winning wagers have been paid.
SHIVAM: It’s really helpful! Can you now please tell our readers, what is the difference between live casino and web-based casinos?
POORVA: Well, since the dawn of the internet, especially in our country. More and more people are going online, and gambling is no different. Live Casino is a product of online gaming where you play tables games using real cards, and Roulette wheels that are operated by croupiers. It’s as close to being in a real mortar and bricks casino as you can get, without actually leaving your home. All the casino games such as slots and table games now just click away, and you can play them from the comfort of your home. As a casino player, what else do you want?
SHIVAM: Can you now please tell us the difference between ‘0’ and ‘00’ on a roulette table?
POORVA: Yes, this sometimes gets confusing. The obvious difference between ‘0’ and ‘00’ roulette is the number of pockets on the wheel. ‘0’ roulette has 36 numbers (1-36) and one zero (0), whereas ‘00’ roulette has 36 numbers and two zero pockets (0 and 00).
SHIVAM: Okay! Can you enlighten us with what is martingale system of betting?
POORVA: Martingale system is possibly the oldest and best-known roulette betting system and follows the double-up-after-a-losing-bet system. The main idea is for you to double the size of your bet if your previous bet was a losing one. The basic mantra of this system is that if you keep on doubling your wager, you will ultimately recover all your losses and even make a profit in the long run.
Grand Martingale System is an ‘improvement’ on this system as it not only sees the player double their last bet after each loss, but also adds one more unit. An example of this would be wagering Rs 50 on red or black. If player losses that bet, his/ her next wager will be Rs 150 (Rs 100 + Rs 50).
SHIVAM: Well, it was great talking to you. I’m sure our readers have learned a lot today. But before we round up this interview, as a roulette croupier, what casino operator do you recommend as the best host of roulette in India?
POORVA: There are many, but if you ask for my preference there are 3 best roulette sites that can give you smooth experience of roulette from comfort of your home. Also, Indian players don’t need to worry as these sites ensures their player’s safety and protect their privacy. These gambling sites are:

Croupier in Las Vegas (2011)
A croupier or dealer is someone appointed at a gambling table to assist in the conduct of the game, especially in the distribution of bets and payouts. Croupiers are typically employed by casinos.
Origin of the word[edit]
Originally a 'croupier' meant one who stood behind a gambler, with extra reserves of cash to back him up during a gambling session. The word derived from croupe (the rump of a horse) and was by way of analogy to one who rode behind on horseback. It later came to refer to one who was employed to collect the money from a gaming-table.[1]
Originally a 'dealer' meant one who was responsible for distributing cards or the player in the dealer position, regardless of whether or not that player was responsible for distributing the cards.[2]
Training[edit]

Training methods to become a casino croupier vary from country to country. In North America, blackjack is almost always the game that dealers learn first, as it is simple and popular, and when the dealer makes errors, they tend not to cost the casino much money. In Europe, croupiers tend to learn roulette first. Complex, busy games such as craps, with complicated payout systems, etc., are usually reserved for the most competent and/or ambitious dealers.[3]
Select colleges and non-collegiate third-level educational institutions now offer croupier training courses, formally dubbed Casino Operations Training, which when put it in an historical context is a milestone achievement for the legitimization of poker in the mainstream. Besides courses, there's a host of private lessons available on social media, poker forums and classifieds sections worldwide, which could serve even better than attending an official course, giving one-on-one apprentice–master attention.
Casinos may also offer an in-house training program. However, sometimes it serves better to get a 'general qualification' than to be trained exclusively into one company's way of operating. Prospective employers often prefer candidates without fully relevant experience over a candidate highly experienced in the idiosyncrasies of another operation.[4]

Licensing[edit]
American, Australian, Canadian and British croupiers are required to apply for a gambling license. This license includes police background checks and credit rating checks, to help determine if they are eligible to commence employment. Croupiers are not permitted to deal at a casino until being issued this license.
Tipping[edit]
As is common with customer service staff in the United States, croupiers there depend on tips to make their wage worthwhile. While a croupier should theoretically have no personal interest in the outcome of the game, a successful player customarily tips the croupier, especially in American casinos. Tips are often pooled and divided amongst all the staff. Fraternising with customers is frowned upon, and most casinos prevent their gambling staff from being seen smoking or even being seen in uniform outside the casino. Some gambling strategies include suggestions to tip the casino dealer in order to create a good atmosphere and improve dealer's mood. According to these strategies, tipping might even make the dealer shuffle the cards less frequently and thereby allow easier tracking of particular cards.[5] Australian casinos forbid dealers from taking tips.[6]
Secondhand smoke exposure[edit]

Because casinos tend to allow smoking on the gambling floor, American croupiers are exposed to secondhand smoke. A health hazard evaluation of several Las Vegas casinos showed that nonsmoker croupiers suffered from more respiratory ailments than their administrative counterparts at the casinos and had cotinine and NNAL (both components of secondhand smoke) in their urine samples.[7]Britain banned smoking in all public places, including casinos, in 2007.[8]
